Scavenger Hunt XII
Duration: October 1st to December 31st, 2014

•This “Challenge” works in conjunction with the other challenges you may participate in during this time frame.

•While you are fulfilling the requirements of your other challenges, be on the lookout for the following items - they may be on the cover or mentioned in the book. Most items are specific, but if in doubt about an item – just ask!

•You may use a book to fulfill multiple items (you do not have to read 50 books for this challenge...do not worry!)

•When you find one of the items, list the Book Title and Author (or link the cover), date it, & rate it. Then specify where the item is found within the book. For audiobooks try to put the chapter if possible. If not, then at least let us know you got it from an audiobook.

•Books that are used must be read during the period of this challenge, the challenge does not start until 10/01/14, but you can get your lists together early. Good Luck & Happy Reading!

These General Guidelines are as follows:

These are some general guidelines for all of the challenges listed here. An individual challenge may have different rules and those will be outlined in the challenge and will take precedence over anything listed here.

1. There will be no specific start and end dates. Instead, each challenge will have a timeframe. This way, you can start any challenge whenever you like. For example, a challenge may run for 1 month, 3 months, 1 year but will never run from August 1-31 or Jauary 1 - Dec 31. Some challenges may be open ended with no timeframe - work at your own pace.

2. To sign up for a challenge just go to that challenge thread and post a comment noting your intent to participate.

3. All forms of book are ok: paper, ebook, audiobook, etc.

4. Books must be at least 150 pages.

5. If you read an edition with no page count (ebook or audiobook) please use the page count of the most popular edition on GR (the one that pops up first when you search for the book).

6. Cross-challenging is encouraged! You may use the same book for more than one challenge.

7. You may post a reading list in advance or post it as you go - whichever you prefer

8. You may update you original post with your progress or you may repost as you go.

9. With each book finished please include a link to the title, a link to the author and the date you finished it.

10. You can include a rating or the book cover if you like but this is not necessary unless required by the specific challenge.

11. Backdating is allowed! For example, if you happen to join a challenge on the 10th but would like to include your books read since the 1st, you go right ahead!

If you have any general questions about the guidelines please feel free to ask here. If you have questions about the guidelines for a specific challenge please post in the thread for that challenge

I will list a few of my favorite genres and see how this one goes.

The Extreme Jelly Bean Challenge

This is an open ended challenge so, take as long as you need.

The main link for this challenge is here.

My link is here.

This challenge is a twist on the ever popular Spell-Out challenges. As with any spell-out challenge you spell the word using the first letter of a book (excluding a, an, the), an author's first or last name, series name, or main character's name. The twist is the book you choose has to have a cover with the color of the jelly bean on it to match with the letter. It doesn't have to be the whole cover just a splotch will do.
